A pair of "denim panties" costing $437 are being sold on-line, sparking mass confusion.

The undies - which look unbelievably uncomfortable - appear on Instagram, with one person describing them as the "ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life".

Y/Project, who make the denim panties, are also responsible for bringing denim butt-less jeans into the world.

But they've surpassed all expectations with this product which is described as: ‘Denim brief-style shorts in navy. Fading throughout. Mid-rise. Three-pocket styling. Belt-loops at waistband. Copper-tone hardware. Tonal stitching.’

No-one is quite sure if you should wear the offending - and very expensive- item as underwear or whether they're meant to be worn instead of jeans. But one thing's for sure... they look like you'd spend A LOT of time trying to get comfortable as you walk around.

‘Chafing is great,’ said one customer while another re-named them as janties jeans/panties.

Gross.

And if you were that keen to wear them, why would you spend nearly $500 on these? Just get a pair from Kmart and cut them up yourself - but don't expect to win many fashion awards!
