A clever teacher wowed Facebook when she revealed a fascinator she had made for Derby Day made out of a $1.50 Kmart placemat.
Dubbed 'The Kmart Hack Of The Year', Anne-Maree Wise, a 55-year-old art teacher from Melbourne, shared photos of the stylish black fascinator she created from scratch for just $5.
'Derby day hat sorted thanks to Kmart (and a bit of glue and cotton thread!),' she wrote on the group page of Kmart Mums Australia.
'I used a black placemat $1.50 and a flower (I added a piece of net I bought at Spotlight). Total cost just under $5,' she added.
Fascinators for Spring Racing can be costly with many women only wearing them once or twice a year.
But this stylish creation proves you don't need to spend a fortune to look a million dollars. The post gained plenty of Facebook Likes and a lot of praise from fellow Kmart fans!
'Good job. I was helping friend look for a ready-made one online and saw what looked like this placemat on a headband with maybe a bit of glue to gather it. It was $70,' one person responded.
'This should be called Kmart Hack Of The Year,' said another.
But not everyone trusted in their own crafty talents. 'You are one seriously talented lady! Mine would end up looking like a Pinterest fail,' joked one.
