How you can look more awake in just seconds

None of us are getting our eight to ten our sleep a night – that’s a fact. And while throwing back a quick coffee might fix how you’re feeling, our faces aren’t so loyal …
Luckily, you don’t have to spend a fortune to look like your child slept through the night and didn’t wake up at 5am demanding to watch Paw Patrol. Here are five awake-face hacks that you’ll wish you’d heard before today.
Use frozen spoons to de-puff!
If you have two spoons, a freezer and a spare 60 seconds, you’ll never have to deal with puffy eyes again. The de-puffing effect of cool metal is second to none as the temperature drop triggers circulation. Simply lay the cool spoons over your eyes and leave them for about a minute. Bonus points if you apply a gel eye cream first.
Line your eyes with nude eyeliner
Nude eyeliner is one of the most underrated beauty products there is. Lining your waterline with a nude liner brightens and widens your eyes in a flash. The resulting look is so natural no-one will ever know you’re wearing it.
Swap black makeup products for brown
Black can be a harsh colour against the skin and tends to highlight fine lines and dark circles around the eyes. Brown is a softer option that offers less contrast with your skin making your entire eye area look more youthful and awake.
Opt for a neutral lip colour to minimise dark circles
It’s worth knowing that any colour you put on your lips will either contrast or compliment your dark circles. Complimentary colours tend to bring out the purple and blue tones making your circles look darker. A pale pink or yellow based nude lip neutralises your circles and avoids creating more depth. Less is more!
Highlight with your favourite lip balm
Nothing says “I got eight hours of sleep last night” like a glowing complexion. Highlighting the high points of your face will instantly bring radiance giving the impression you’re well rested. Try a few dabs of your humble lip balm for a glossy and dewy finish on cheekbones and around the eyes.
