I completely understand that this is an incredibly tough time for many.

I also understand that exercise may be the furthest thing from your mind but I can assure you that it is only going to help.

When we are stuck at home there is potential for this to have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. We tend to snack more, we’re moving less, we’re more stressed and more anxious… and this means that moving your body is more important than ever.

Not only does regular exercise promote good mental health, it will also help support your immune system during this crappy time.

Here are three important reasons why you should keep moving in isolation:

1. Supports your Physical Health

Regular exercises strengthens your bones and joints, improves your cardiovascular health and helps with weight management- just to name a few key benefits. It also supports your immune system which is more important now than ever.

2. Reduces Stress

Exercise releases feel good endorphins which help to boost our mood and combat stress. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, a workout always helps to calm my mind and is a great distraction when I want to switch off from the stresses of life.

3. Boosts Immunity

Regular exercise is vital for your overall health and helps to strengthen your immune system.

It is also incredibly important to make sure your kids are staying active too.  We all know kids can get restless when stuck at home but the key to getting them moving is to make it fun. A great way to do this is through a game of chance. All you need is a dice to roll. Roll the dice and one equals 5 star jumps, 2 equals 5 push-ups and rolling a 6 might mean your child chooses what mum and dad does. You and the kids can choose what each number means before you start. It’s a fun way to get them involved and is a great bonding experience for the whole family.
