Reusable toilet paper is now a trend - and people are NOT OK with it! Are you?!

Would you be tempted to give it a go?!

Reusable toilet paper - ever heard of it? Ever dared to think what it might mean? Well, now you can... because it's a real thing!

Family cloth (which is the bizarre name people are using for reusable toilet paper) is a sustainable, eco-friendly toilet paper that basically means you wipe your bum with a cloth wipe, like a wash cloth, and then wash it in hot water and use it again.

Although the name suggests it's just one piece of cloth (ewwww), it isn't, it can be like a toilet roll, or a pack of material squares but they're made of reusable cloth and basically it's an eco-conscious alternative to disposable toilet paper!

The idea is not only to reduce your family’s consumer waste, but but also save cash as you won't buy any more toilet paper.

But as much as we love saving money and the environment, this might be one step too far!

How do family cloths work?

Believe it or not, the set of small cloths are used individually and thrown into a hamper after each use. Yes, that means you have a hamper of bits of material covered in wee and poo in your bathroom BUT fans of reusable toilet paper say it's no different to having dirty nappies in a nappy bin in your house.

Ummm...

Then you simply wash the cloths in very hot water and add bleach to make sure that they are clean for the next time they're used. Not quite sure how that might be eco-friendly but hey...

One anonymous every day user of the family cloth system told Buzzfeed that she would never go back to normal toilet paper now that she's tried the reusable versions - and not just because it's cost-effective.

She wrote, 'My family is myself and my husband, my 6-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and my 3-year-old son.

'To be honest, I was the main driving force behind this switch from toilet paper to a family cloth. We've been using family cloth for under a year, even though the plan to do so had been years in the making for us.

'So far, it's been wonderful and I can't imagine going back.

'We often hear metaphorical talk like 'Buying ________ is like flushing money down the toilet.' But in my mind, buying and using disposable toilet paper was literally flushing money down the toilet! If you’re wondering, 'Why would you want to reuse something that you wipe your genitals with?', I’d answer this question with my own question: 'Do you throw away your underpants after each use?'

The family cloth fan also admitted that she also uses baby wipes in addition to the cloth to make sure their bums are super-clean.

"We use baby wipes because toilet paper just doesn't get the tushy clean enough, but we never flush wipes because it clogs the pipes. The ultimate goal is to have bidet attachments on our toilets, and then use that to cleanse after a poop and then, yes, to use the cloths to pat dry.

She also added that when they have guests they do leave out a box of facial tissues so no-one else has to use the cloths if they don't feel comfortable.

So, what do you think? The reusable toilet paper cloths certainly caused quite the stir on Twitter when someone shared the idea...

One said, 'Like how are u really saving if you're having to wash them in a wash machine? Thats like extra soap, water, so doesn't it end up being same cost or more for toilet paper and wipes?? Lol ...but hey to each their own..'

While others were slightly more bold in their approach.

'Um. No.' said one.

'AHHH,' said Chrissy Teigan (not sure what that really meant).

And 'THIS IS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING EVER!' said another person who wasn't sitting on the fence!

Any thoughts?
