Meghan Markle has issued a rare apology to her old friends, following a school reunion.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, was unable to return to the USA and attend her 20-year high school reunion after the birth of little Archie Harrison but she took the time and effort to personally apologise for her absence.

Meghan sent a note marked from 'Kensington Palace' to her class of 1999 at Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, California.

She attended the private Catholic school for ten years.

'Everyone was disappointed that they did not get to catch up with Meghan given everything that has happened to her,' a former friend told Mail Online.

'But the whole group was super excited about her giving birth to the first British-American prince, it was all anyone talked about.

'They were so excited to get that letter from her. She is remembered as someone who is very thoughtful, and to get that kind of attention now that she is a Royal went down really well.

The reunion for the class of 1999 was attended by 37 women, out of a possible 50.

The following day Meghan gave birth to Archie, who is seventh in line to the UK throne, at 5.26am on Monday, May 6 in London.

Before Meghan announced her pregnancy, friends from the school had hoped she would attend the reunion, but they were still immensely touched to get the handwritten and very personal letter from their most famous alumni.

And the school congratulated her on the royal birth

'The school community extends best wishes of happiness to the Royal Family on this joyous event!' the statement said.

The Duchess spent middle school and high school at Immaculate Heart in Los Feliz, which costs a staggering $16,850 a year.

Now they are hoping that Meghan, Prince Harry and Archie will be able to come to the 25-year reunion in 2024!
