With temperatures soaring it’s only natural for people to turn to their trusty fan.
However, if that doesn’t provide you with some sweet relief, it might be because you’re using it wrong.
As Eco Design adviser Nelson Lebo told the NZ Herald, it sounds crazy, but pointing your fan out of the window is more effective than blowing hot air around a room.
"It's physics," Lebo said. "You want to blow hot air out and have cold air coming in.
"Even if there's warm air in the house, when air is moving, it feels cool on our bodies."
He added: "When the outside temperature drops below the inside temperature; you really reap the benefits."
