A mum has everyone talking after sharing her rule that no male will ever look after her daughter alone - not even her father-in-law or her dad.
In her article titled, Why I don’t let males babysit my children, published on the website Daily Life, Kasey Edwards writes: "When our first daughter was born my husband and I made a family rule: no man would ever babysit our children. No exceptions."
Appearing on The Project tonight, Edwards reiterated her stance.
"Eight years ago when my first daughter was born my husband and has a conversation, we based it on horrifying statistics based on the risk of child sexual abuse caused by known men and we decided it was easier and safer to have this rule," she told the program.
She added: "I don't want to think of anyone in my family and question if they could be a potential sex offender.
"If we have a blanket rule then they are safe."
When asked what prompted her actions, Edwards says she "understands how quickly how a child can be stripped of the dignity."
"I know how lovely, gorgeous men who are lovely in public can be monsters in private and I'm not prepared to take that risk with my children."
As The Project Host Peter Helliar points out, how Edwards and her husband choose to raise their children is their choice.
But not everyone agrees.
