A parenting book has become a huge success thanks to a royal endorsement from Kate Middleton.
In it’s second print, the book titled The Modern Mother's Handbook: How To Raise A Happy, Healthy, Smart, Disciplined and Interesting Child, Starting From Birth, is somewhat of an enigma, with the author choosing to remain anonymous - even after its success.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the author, who calls herself a modern old-fashioned mum, said Kate’s endorsement “drew a tremendous amount of interest.”
“It's as if Kate gave it a stamp of approval. So many women look up to the Duchess that I guess they thought if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me.”
The author added: "The Duchess is an extraordinary mum as she is both modern and old-fashioned because she's very hands on. I commend her for making it look easy while in a fishbowl, and dang does she dress those kids cute!"
As a result, "a lot of actresses tracked down the book after they learned Kate had read it," said the writer.
According to the book's Amazon description, it's packed with 13 years of ‘no-nonsense’ advice for new mums.
“Should your baby sleep alone from day one? Can formula save your sanity? Are pacifies a good thing? What should Dad's job be? How do you discipline a toddler? What are the tricks for healthy eating habits? All these questions are expertly answered, and so much more!”
The reviews, however, are mixed.
Many found the short read (can be read in 60 minutes) very helpful.
"Simplified and succinct. It's got a lot of great advice. There are a lot of suggestions in there that I wish I could do and maybe now I actually will try a bit harder to do them," one mum wrote.
Others said the advice wasn’t anything new.
“The advice is like anyone else's advice,” wrote another mum, “take it or leave it.”
