Schools are warning kids not to take part in "eraser challenges" after several students have been left with injuries so bad they're likely to scar.
While the challenge has been around for a while, social media has given it more attention with kids daring each other to take part.
East Iredell Middle School in North Carolina has warned parents about the trend.
'Kids are rubbing an eraser across their skin while having to do or say something. It's causing serious burns,' the school advised in a Facebook post.
Kids challenge each other to dares like reciting the alphabet while having the eraser rubbed fast across their skin. They then compare their wounds on social media.
With some kids left with permanent scarring, parents are being urged to keep a close eye on any unusual injuries and to talk to kids about the dangers of the game.
