Squishies are banned over fears they contain dangerous chemicals

Tests showed how harmful they could be.

A new craze for children’s toys called “squishies” has been stopped in its tracks after they were banned in one country for containing harmful chemicals.

The popular toys have been axed in Denmark after a series of tests showed they could be harmful

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency tested twelve squishies and found that all of them contained chemicals with links to cancer, as well as chemicals that can contribute to liver damage, breathing problems, infertility, and eye irritation.

The toys are made from foam and resemble stress balls.

There's no word yet if they will be banned in Australia, but countries around the world are performing their own tests.

The Toy Industries Europe is disputing the ban saying that testing just twelve squishies doesn’t justify a ban.
