Sophie Monk shares heartbreaking health news

'I underestimated the operation. I'm so devastated'

November 17 2018

Sophie Monk revealed on November 12 that she had undergone surgery to begin the process to freeze her eggs, and as a consequence, discovered she is suffering from endometriosis.

And on November 16, the former Bachelorette star took to social media to confirm that she wasn’t yet recovered enough to attend the Maxim party thrown in her honour.

Sharing video from her bed at home, the 38-year-old apologised for missing the 2018 Maxim Hot 100 Australia at Flamingo Lounge in Sydney's Potts Point.

'I was so excited tonight to go to the Maxim party. But I underestimated the operation and I'm so devastated,' she began explaining in a series of Instagram story videos.

'So was I Soph! I bought a new suit! I didn't get my nails done or a tan, but I was excited,' her dad jokingly interjected.

The former Bardot star’s news comes after she shared footage earlier in the week of her coming round from surgery and receiving her shock diagnosis.

'We did find some endometriosis,' the doctor reveals, 'But not a lot.'

She captioned the video: 'So many women live not knowing they have endometriosis. If you have annoying cycles. You should ask your doctor.'

The clip was filmed at Monash IVF, a Sydney In Vitro Fertilisation clinic, leading many to believe she had undergone an IVF procedure.
