Savvy mum quits real estate job and rakes in $300k year CLEANING!

She makes how much?!

July 26 2019

A savvy mum who ditched her career in real estate to become a CLEANER is now raking in $300k per year.

Jodhi McGrath was fed up of the 9-5 daily grind and made the bold decision to quit her 15-year-long career in real estate to pursue a more ‘laid-back’ cleaning job back in 2012.

The 44-year-old from Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, admitted it was a hard transition at first as she went from a 50k real estate salary to making just $30,000 per year.

But it wasn’t long before the business-savvy mum had built successful name for herself as a cleaner – and soon she was forced to hire more workers to help her meet the growing demand.

Jodhi soon went from being a single cleaner with a few jobs a week to being the proud owner of her own business Cherubs & Dust – which rakes in an impressive $300,000 per year.

Mum-of-two Jodhi said: “I’d been working in real estate for 15 years doing the 9-5 grind five days per week.

“After having kids it all just became too much. I just felt like I couldn’t do it anymore. I’d been doing the same thing for so long.

“So I just decided to take a risk and get a cleaning job. I wanted some freedom in my hours and lifestyle.

“I literally just went and bought a cleaning bucket and some products and posted ads online.

“I built up a few jobs and it was great. I was loving it. I had so much more time with my family and didn’t have to answer to anyone.

“It wasn’t easy at first. I was running at a loss and only making $30,000 a year.

“But I just kept going and it just grew from there. Soon I had jobs every day of the week.

“Referrals kept coming it due to the unique services I’d provide. I go that extra mile and make sure I did a fantastic job.

“Your average cleaner is sometimes just in and out quickly, but we change sheets and clean fridges. We just do that little bit extra and people really appreciate that.

“We became so popular that we needed to hire more cleaners and it just became this great business."

Jodhi admitted that while it was a ‘huge risk’ for her to quit her real estate career she has ‘absolutely no regrets’.

And even her husband Scott, 44, quit his job as a store manager to help her manage the booming business - and now the pair are happier than ever enjoying their new lavish lifestyle.

The duo have been able to buy two houses and have gone on over ten holidays around Australia with their kids Jake, eight, and Skye, six, thanks to the success of their cleaning company.

She said: “It was a total risk for me to quit my career in real estate. I didn’t know how it was all going to pan out.

“We have about 15 staff who work with us now, so my husband and I have been able to go behind the scenes and manage it together.

“We’re honestly happier than ever. We’ve bought two houses and gone on loads of trips with the kids.

“My husband and I love working together and it’s really strengthened our relationship.

“The risk was absolutely worth it. Our lives have totally changed.

“I’d never look back. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
