May 06 2019

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their first born child, a son, today according to Kensington Palace.

The palace confirmed that the baby was born on May 6, 2019 weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces.

Speaking from Windsor, the Duke of Sussex said: 'I'm very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy. I'm so incredibly proud of my wife.'

He added: "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension."

Harry then added, 'It's brilliant, I'm absolutely thrilled. We're really grateful for all the love and support shown to us. It's been overdue so we have had a little bit of time to think about names so that's the next bit.

'I haven't been at many births. This is my first birth. It was amazing and absolutely incredible. I'm incredibly proud of my wife.

'Every father and parent will say your baby is absolutely amazing but this little thing is absolutely to die for. I'm over the moon.'

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said Meghan and her child were 'both doing well', and that the Queen was 'delighted' with the news.

The official statement from the Palace read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth." The message continued: "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news. The Duchess's mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage." The statement concluded: "Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well."

The couple announced the news on Instagram with a blue tile saying that they were overjoyed to announce the news that we have a little prince!

There's no word about that name yet but we will soon find out just what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will call their little bundle of joy!

Meghan celebrated her baby shower in February in New York City with a bunch of her famous celebrity friends.

Her Suits co-stars Abigail Spencer was there, as well as Amal Clooney, Jessica Mulroney, Gayle King, Serena Williams and more.

However, the months during Meghan's pregnancy have not been the easiest. Rumours of a royal rift between Meghan, Harry and Prince William and Kate Middleton have been rife.
