You can transform the flavour of a plain pear or apple puree with the addition of some fresh ginger and cinnamon. Adding a little natural yoghurt gives your baby a boost of probiotics.
500g chopped pear (approx. 2 large pears, peeled and cored)
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1cm x 1cm piece of peeled fresh ginger, finely grated
Plain or Greek yoghurt, to serve
Place pear into a saucepan with 1 tablespoon of water. Cook, covered, over a low-medium heat for about 15-20 minutes until pear is very tender (cooking time will vary depending on the ripeness of the pear).
Transfer pear to a food processor or high-powered blender (such as a Thermomix). Add cinnamon and grated ginger and blend to desired consistency. Keep the consistency smooth for younger babies and more textured for older babies.
Set aside one serving and serve with yoghurt. Freeze the remainder in individual portions for later use.
