Being a parent isn't easy, but one mum is showing others it's the little things that make it all worthwhile.
Sharing a picture of her husband and daughter asleep on Facebook, Joanna Scheuerman said it’s moments like these that she cherishes.
“Yesterday was a grumpy day for me. I didn't feel like being a mommy. I didn't feel like making meals, or doing school with my kindergartner or doing laundry,” she captioned the image.
“I didn't feel like being happy,” she added.
Instead, she wanted to lock herself in a cupboard for some peace and quiet. As a result she snapped at her husband before they went to bed.
But that all changed when she awoke to her family asleep beside her.
“Moments like this are so easy to cherish; it's so easy to choose happiness and love in beautiful moments like this.
“But real love chooses happiness in the ugly moments too. Real love chooses to cherish even in the frustrating moments.
“A time could come where those moments are taken from you, and you would only want to have them back.”
She finished the post by encouraging others to choose love and patience.
“I'm so glad I woke up early or I would have missed this gorgeous moment.”
Scheuerman’s post was shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page and has since been like over 16,000 times.
Most were thankful that Scheuerman shared her story. “I really needed to read this today. I'm going though some hard times, myself. Thank you for sharing this,” one user wrote.
Others offered support to the mum telling her not to be so hard on herself.
“Every mum has those days,” said another commenter. “Heck, even if you're not a mum, you have those days.”
