What do you think?

It’s difficult to choose a baby name that really stands out these days, but one mum claims her daughter has a “truly unique” name, and it’s all down to the spelling.

Jessica Mavis wrote in to a magazine to share her daughter’s name with other readers. She explained that she loved the moniker she’d given her but felt it was too common.

“I’ve always loved the name Kaitlyn but hated how popular it was,” she wrote.

“So when I found out I was having a girl, my husband suggested we replace the ‘ait’ with the Roman number symbol for eight!"

So now her daughter’s name is spelled ‘KVIIIlyn’, with her mum adding: “Now our daughter is truly unique.”

The couple were slammed on social media, however, with one commenter saying: “She is going to hviii this name when she is older, will end up changing it by deed poll to the proper spelling.”

“Selfish Mum you give her the name but it’s hers. Imagine all the teachers like “ahh d--- I have Kviiilyn in my class,” said another.

A third commenter said that the girl’s parents were the winners of “Bogan Baby names for 2019”.

Last year, a mum got extremely upset when airline staff mocked her daughter, whose name is Abcde (pronounced “Ab-city).

And earlier this year, users on Netmums shared their top 10 list of bogan baby names, but will KVIIIlyn take the gong here?
