Mum outraged after photographer shamed her for having c-section

This is not okay!

February 27 2017

A woman has received a very upsetting message from a photographer after she tried to book her services for the birth of her baby.

The mum-to-be, who hasn't been named, tried to book the photographer for her babys birth via c-section; however, instead of hiring the woman, she received a shocking response.

The text exchange, shared on the Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk, has been met with outrage.

The screen grab begins with the mum defending herself, saying she was unaware photographers discriminated against how women give birth.

I didnt opt for anything but alright, I had no idea birth photographers discriminated against people for how they birth their babies…” she said.

To her surprise, the photographer kept going.

A surgery isnt birth my dear," the photographer replied.  You arent giving birth. You have a surgery to your baby from your abdomen, That is not birth no matter how you swing it and I for one dont want to be there to take pictures of it.

The mum behind Breastfeeding Mama Talk shared a screen shot of the text exchange with a clear message: This is not okay!

“This is not okay would love to know who this photographer is, she wrote.

Mums who have had a C-section you're just as much a damn good mother as anyone. How you gave birth and you did certainly give birth does not determine your worth as a mum. #stopmomshaming.

The response in the comments section was much the same.

"Wow. If anything c-section mama's deserve more props. Awake during surgery & a longer/harder recovery with a newborn to take care of. How on earth is that cutting corners? I thought my 2 vaginal births were the easy way, even with their own complications for each one, major surgery (while awake) is not easy!" wrote one mum.

Another said: "Omg how horribly mean! I had natural births but I'm still extremely offended. Conceiving is a miracle in itself... birthing (any way possible to get a baby into this world healthy, safely and happily) is a double miracle.
Boycott her!!!! What a moron."
