Man charged after four-week-old baby is seriously injured

A Sydney man has been granted bail one week after he allegedly seriously injured a newborn girl in his home.

The 25-year-old was arrested by child abuse squad detectives and charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, according to Nine News.

Parramatta Local Court heard today that he lashed out because he was angry and frustrated by his daughter’s crying.

The baby is just four weeks old and has suffered serious brain, neck and rib injuries.

Doctors have said that the baby is just clinging on to life, and if she does pull through, she will likely be disabled for life.

The man has been given bail on the condition that he does not go near or contact his wife or the baby.

However, he is still in custody because he has not met bail conditions.
