Dad-of-two makes smash hit record about a SAUSAGE ROLL - and it could be Christmas number one!

Ariana Grande’s chart-topping song, Thank u, next, is facing fierce competition to hold the coveted number one spot on Christmas Day.

While you’d expect to see the likes of Mariah Carey, who wrote one of the most popular Christmas tunes of all time, in the top spot, she’s being well and truly beaten by a quirky song from a YouTube star. 

And the song is all about a sausage roll. Yes, a sausage roll.

UK blogger, LadBaby, whose real name is Mark Hoyle, has shocked music lovers with his quick rise to number two on the charts thanks to his new parody tune.

His song, We Built This City On Sausage Rolls, is a parody of the 1985 Starship song, We Built This City On Rock N Roll. He told the BBC that the song "started as a joke.”

"I had never sung before in my life. I've never done karaoke.

"Now I don't want to let it slip. Now I feel like we can go all the way, and why not? We want a Christmas miracle and get the number one spot."

 It was recorded to benefit the Trussell Trust, a UK food bank provider and has been viewed nearly half a million times since its December 14 premiere.

The dad-of-two quickly gained fame for his hilariously unique parenting choices that he caught on camera and uploaded to YouTube. What started as him documenting his transformation from ‘lad to dad’ when he had his first son has become a sensation. His clips have been viewed more than 70 million times!

 His wife, Roxanne, who sings backup on the track, is often left baffled by the dad’s blatant disregard of her wishes instead choosing humorous life hacks to get around a situation.

 However, despite the songs popularity and soaring number of downloads, experts say it’s unlikely the song will nab the top spot. Although it’s beating Ariana Grande’s song in terms of song downloads, it’s trailing on streaming platforms such as Spotify where it’s proving people aren’t regularly listening to the song.
