KFC give parents $11k for naming daughter after Colonel Sanders!

Would you do this?

KFC have given $11,000 to a couple who named their baby daughter after the founder of the fast food chain, Colonel Sanders.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, the fried chicken restaurant outlet, donated the money towards baby Harland Rose’s college tuition after her parents chose to give her the same first name as the iconic Colonel in a huge competition to find a baby, born on his birthday and given his name!

KFC announced that little Harland Rose had won on Twitter.

Earlier this year, they launched the contest to find a baby named Harland, born on September 9 – the same day as Colonel Sanders was born, in 1890.

Little Harland Rose, whose parents plan to call her Harley, was awarded the $11,000 in a nod to the 11 different herbs and spices KFC coat their chicken in.

At least it's one way to decided on a baby name for your child!

KFC launched the contest in a bit to revive the popularity of the name Harland, which they said was dying out.

Announcing the win on Twitter under the guise of the Colonel, who died in 1980, KFC said: ‘I’m as pleased as pumpkin punch to announce the winner of our Baby Harland Naming Contest and the Harland who will be ushering in an all-new generation of Harlands, little Harland Rose.’
