A 49-year-old woman was arrested for endangering her children’s lives by having them sit on the roof of her car in order to hold down an inflatable swimming pool.

According to police, Jennifer A. Janus Yeager from Illinois was pulled over on Tuesday after residents noticed the two girls sitting on the car’s roof.

The woman was driving to a friend’s house to fill up the pool but said she needed to get the pool home on the roof of her car without it blowing off.

She then allegedly placed the pool on the roof and her two daughters sit inside it in order to hold it down.

When police tracked the woman down, the children were still sitting on top of the vehicle.

Ms Yeager was placed under arrest on two counts of endangering the health or life of a child and two counts of reckless conduct.

She was also cited for failure to secure a passenger of eight and under the age of 16.

The woman was taken to the Dixon Police Department, but she posted bond and was released.
