Forget stocking up on bread - Aussie mums are now making it in their slow cookers

This recipe’s gone viral: ‘Best bread I’ve ever had!’

With bread in high demand as millions of Aussies hit the supermarkets amid coronavirus shopping panic, slow cooker fans have found a way to strike the grocery staple off their shopping lists. 

Mums all around the country have started making loaves of bread in their slow cookers, with many saying it’s better than anything you can buy in a store.

The amazing new recipe has gone viral since appearing on the awesome Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips Facebook page, with thousands blown away by the ingenious bread hack.

Sharing their recipe, the Facebook page says: ‘Last night I made.. Bread!! I've wanted a bread machine for years but couldn't justify the extra counter space and another appliance in the kitchen. This works perfect and tastes so good - one less thing to buy on my weekly shop!’

Other slow cooker fans have vowed to give it a try, saying it’s saved them the expense of buying a bulky bread machine.

‘Wow!! I’ve been looking at bread machines but now that I’ve seen this I’ll try my slow cooker first!!!’ said one. Added another: 

I'm going to have a try of this... Was looking to get a breadmaker, but they're expensive and huge!’

Said a third: ‘I tried this last night and it’s easily the best bread I’ve ever had.’

Added one more:  ‘Never thought of making bread in my slow cooker  ... what a great idea 😀😀
