A five-year-old girl was fatally run over on her way home from school on Wednesday.
Police believe the girl from the NSW Central Coast was crossing the road after getting off the school bus to meet her mother when she was hit by a truck, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The girl, who hasn’t been named, sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene.
A neighbour, who didn’t want to be named, told the publication he heard sirens but didn’t know what had happened.
“It’s the main road and there are often children crossing but I’ve never heard of an accident before and I’ve lived here about 17 years.”
Fairfax Media reports: "Police understand the girl was "quite a distance" in front of the bus when she began to cross the road.
"She was "obscured" by the bus, meaning the truck driver did not see her before she was hit."
