Do your research

You would never buy a car, decide on a health insurance provider or even book a holiday without doing your research – because where possible, you know you shouldn’t make impulsive purchases.

The Royal Easter Show website has a whole section dedicated to Show Bags – sectioning every bag into specific categories with the ability to filter via price point.

Do your homework! Search for the Show Bags you’re interested in and make a shortlist... then compare the quality, number of products and price. You’ll thank us for it later!

Make a game out of it

Rally the kids to do their own research too! It will make for a fun weekend activity prior to making your way to the show… give them a budget and an hour to research and shortlist all the bags they want – then, go through and assess the best value for money and make a list of what you’re going to buy.

Compare the prices

Don’t just assume the cheapest bags gives you less – and the most expensive gives you more. Research conducted by mydiscountdeals shows that often the best bang for your buck comes from the middle priced bags, giving you more items for less…

Have a sweet tooth? The Bertie Beetle Diamond Deal is middle range bag for chocolates and lollies - costing just $15, with 51 items equating to just 29c each item. The total savings is $29. The Freddo Family Deal for $20 has 33 items, costing 60c each, while the Killer Python Bag is just $5, including just 4 items at $1.25 each.

For the Girls! The Kiss and Make Up Bag is $22, including 14 items at $1.57 each, with a total savings of $81. The Fairy Girls Bag is the cheapest, costing $12.50 with only 7 items though, equating to $1.78 per item, while the Cheerleader Bag at $28, including 8 items, calculates $3.50 per item.

Themed bags more your thing? The Hunger Games bag came out on top, costing $25 for 7 items, equating to $3.57 each with a total savings of $48.70. The Blinky Bill Bag at $20 for 5 items means each item costs $4, while the $30 Star Wars Ep 8 Backpack Bag with only 4 items costing $7.50 is the least value for money.

Eagle-eye approach

Enter the show bag tent on a mission… to get in and out with what you want – nothing more and nothing less. Don’t be fooled by the flashing lights, you know what you want. Get it and go!

Leave the show bags until last!

Most importantly, leave the Show Bag tent until last… there’s nothing worse than lugging your show bags all over the show grounds.
