Celeste Barber is an actor, comedian, writer and creator of the hilarious #celestechallengeaccepted, where she emulates models and actresses’ Instagram poses and videos. Currently working on a new challenge series with Royal Caribbean Cruises, she chats with Practical Parenting about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to holidaying with family.
What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you on holiday?
I was in America in 2006 and thought I saw someone I knew - I walked up to him and said, ‘hi, how have you been?’ and went in for a hug. I quickly realised that he was Chris Noth (Mr Big from Sex and The City) as he backed away from me slowly.
What’s the worst holiday experience you’ve had with kids?
Travelling to Bali solo with my two kids who spent the flight vomiting all over me.
What’s your idea of a great holiday?
One that has something for everyone. I’m taking the family on a Royal Caribbean cruise to New Zealand in March. We’re all so excited to try out the fun onboard activities. All of our interests and needs will be covered - #hothusband can surf, the boys can rock-climb and play laser tag, whilst I can enjoy a spa treatment or check out a Broadway-inspired show. I do like the fact that we’ll only have to unpack once, and that the cooking and cleaning will both be taken care of!
What’s your children’s idea of a great holiday?
Anything that involves water slides, ice-cream and a buffet breakfast.
When’s the last time you had a solo break with your partner?
We went to the Maldives earlier this year, which was beautiful and relaxing.
What’s your favourite destination?
It has to be Bali. We got married there so it will always be a special destination for #hothusband and me.
Which celebrity would you like to go on holiday with?
The entire cast of Friends.
Have any of the celebs or models contacted you or commented on your posts?
Yes, a few have been in contact. Reese Witherspoon, Rosie Huntington Whitley and Gwyneth Paltrow are super lovely and supportive.
