A dehydrated baby girl has been found in a motel room with the bodies of her dead parents.

Little Skylah Reed was discovered in the room with Jessica Bramer, 26, of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Christian Reed, 28, Michigan State Police said.

An immediate cause of death was not given by police who said it will take at least 30 days for toxicology results to come back from the lab.

Skylah was listed in critical condition at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Michigan over the weekend, but she is expected to make a full recovery, although it's not clear who will take custody of her when she is released from hospital.

Police were called to the motel as part of a welfare check after the couple stayed there for about a week with Skylah. Staff refused to answer questions about what had caused police to be called.

It's thought Jessica and Christian have been in and out of jail - and Skylah's grandparents had been concerned for her safety.
