An Ode To Kids’ Weekend Sport
A poem for all those parents and kids who faced the early morning cold this weekend to play sport!

You hope and pray,
There’s no game today.
It's been a long week,
You'd prefer to sleep.
To stay in bed,
And rest your head.
Listening for rain,
Is it cancelled again?
The sun is shining,
The kids are whining
“We’re going to be late”
As you run out the gate.
You hit the field,
Your hunger healed.
Sausage in a bun,
You’re ready for fun.
They kick a ball,
Pass, trip and fall.
No Messi or Ronaldo,
They give it all a go.
Oranges at half-time,
The kids are fine.
Rain can pitter-patter,
It doesn't matter.
The match is done,
The team has won.
They made you proud,
You say it loud.
But win, lose or draw,
Who cares anymore?
They've had a run,
And had some fun!
