Fussy eaters… urrgh, they can be exhausting sometimes (OK three meals a day!). But don’t give up! These 3 super reasons kids should eat salmon are worth the effort, says leading nutritionist Susie Burrell.

“Salmon delivers on the definition of being ‘super’ thanks to its dense nutrient profile,” explains Susie, who is a mum of two young children and currently Tassal ambassador. “It contains high sources of protein, is rich in Omega-3 and range of B group vitamins.”

So what, exactly, do proteins, Omega-3 and B group vitamins do – and how can they help your child?

Here, Susie explains …

1.

Growing little fish into big fish! Salmon is high in protein

“Salmon is an extremely rich source of good quality protein which is essential for growing kids,” explains Susie. “Protein helps fuel the superpower of super strength for busy growing bodies and it helps give them the energy they need to fuel super play. Protein rich foods offer essential amino acids as well as helping to keep kids full and satisfied throughout the day.”

2.

Power plate for a powered immune system: Salmon is rich in Omega-

“Salmon is one of the richest natural sources of Omega-3 fats,” says Susie. “Not only are these essential fats crucial for brain development, but they naturally help to keep the body’s immune system in balance. There is also some evidence to show that these special fats also play key roles in cognitive development and functioning, which is of crucial importance for busy, active and developing kids.”

3.

Upstream energy and mood! Salmon is high in a range of B group vitamins

“Not often thought about specifically when it comes to salmon, salmon is also a rich source of several B-group Vitamins including Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12,” Susie explains. “Not only do B group vitamins play a key role in energy production, especially for those who need plenty of energy like kids do, but specifically Vitamins B6 and B12 are directly involved in mood regulation, memory and concentration helping to keep our kids happy, healthy and their minds working as quickly as they do!”
